The Story Won’t Die is an award-winning film directed by David Henry Gerson. This amazing movie about Syrian artists/refugees is both inspiring, heart-breaking, and heart-warming all at the same time. How could this happen? How could people do this to other people? How? But since, they are survivors… they don’t deserve our pity, they deserve our love and being inspired by their story and their strength. It is beautiful and hard what they did. Choosing to leave their country to live. Live and fight for another day. Fight and continue fighting. Fight till the world hears their voices. That’s truly amazing. The collection of stories for this movie and the way it was told is just brilliant.
I got inspired. I want to be a part of this kind of story and this kind of world. I want to be a part of this. I want to help share their stories. I want to help preserve whatever I can. I want to volunteer, support, and work. Whatever it is I can do, I am willing to do it. I just wish I know how can I help. I just wish I know what else can I do. What can I voice as mine can do? I have one skill and that is writing and I am even trying to learn that. I have no idea what to do and how to help…
The only idea I have is that… I want to be a part of this. I want to be writing about this. I believe in the Syrian people and their fight. I believe that they need our help, spread the word. I believe they need kindness. I believe they need all the good things we can give. They need our support and our compassion. They need our help in making sure that we continue telling these stories for them. We should not forget. Keep going. Live for the others that couldn’t get out. Live for the others who were lost during this tragic time. Live for those who got out and continue to fight. Live. Remember. Fight. As the title says, The Story Won’t Die.
